Web App Firewall Security Engineer - Remote

Overview

The WAF Security Engineer is responsible for enterprise Web Application Firewall and edge security operations protecting high-traffic ecommerce applications and APIs.

In Short

• Hands-on ownership of Akamai security platforms.
• Design, deploy, configure, and manage WAF policies.
• Tune and optimize security rules for performance.
• Monitor and analyze security events and attack traffic.
• Participate in incident response activities.
• Develop and report on WAF effectiveness metrics.
• Support secure deployment practices and CI/CD security integrations.
• Stay current with emerging web threats.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills required.
• 3–5+ years of experience in web application security.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Akamai security products.
• Knowledge of HTTP, HTTPS, TLS, DNS, and CDN architectures.
• Experience analyzing security logs and traffic patterns.
• Ability to tune WAF policies effectively.
• Basic scripting or automation experience.
• Experience with Imperva and/or AWS WAF preferred.
• Familiarity with PCI security requirements.
• Experience supporting high-volume ecommerce environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
