Payroll & Benefits Specialist - Remote

Overview

Rivia Mind is seeking a full-time Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our People Operations team. This role is responsible for guiding the benefits and retirement plans, compliance, audits, monitoring administrative costs, and recommending cost-efficient alternatives for a workforce of approximately 200 employees distributed across the United States.

In Short

• Oversee bi-weekly payroll for 200+ employees across 22+ states.
• Manage payroll systems, reporting, audits, and employee support.
• Lead benefits administration and plan design across health and retirement programs.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Serve as the first point of contact for payroll and benefits inquiries.
• Collaborate with finance and external vendors for accurate payroll delivery.
• Implement strategies for benefits and wellness programs.
• Conduct audits and maintain internal documentation.
• Support compensation planning and budgeting.
• Promote employee engagement and understanding of benefits.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR Management, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years in payroll and benefits management for 200+ employees.
• Experience with multi-state payroll administration.
• Proficiency in HRIS systems; knowledge of BambooHR preferred.
• Strong understanding of payroll and benefits laws.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of benefit programs and compliance regulations.
• Experience managing third-party vendors.
