Director of Operations & Planning, What Works Cities - Remote

Overview

The Director of Operations and Planning will be an integral part of the What Works Cities team, serving as a key strategic advisor to the Managing Director of What Works Cities.

• Lead strategic cross-team initiatives and optimize operational efficiencies.
• Ensure effective communication across a growing team.
• Track strategic goals and priorities, assisting with troubleshooting roadblocks.
• Design and implement a new team-wide operational plan.
• Oversee the systems and platform design of What Works Cities’ digital products.
• Manage team culture and development.

• Provide high-level decision support through analysis and recommendations.
• Manage contract management and budget tracking.
• Lead user experience initiatives for internal and external platforms.

Requirements

• 12+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree.
• Master's degree (MBA/MPP/MPA) preferred.
• Experience supervising two or more FTEs.
• Prior experience with budget management.
• Strong project management skills.
• Experience with systems and platform management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to unplanned variables.
