Regulatory and Compliance Counsel - Remote

Overview

Renew Home is seeking an experienced Regulatory and Compliance Counsel to provide sound, practical and actionable legal advice and business leadership to support our mission of revolutionizing the energy industry.

In Short

• Support energy regulatory compliance.
• Counsel on the company’s participation in energy and capacity markets.
• Advise on application of the rules of ISO/RTOs, FERC, and state PUC/PSCs.
• Provide legal review and advice across all departments and functions.
• Manage specialist outside counsel and subject matter experts.
• Implement compliance frameworks and ensure adherence to industry standards.
• Work dynamically across compliance workstreams with minimal supervision.
• Address broader strategic issues and matters of first impression.
• Support compliance, energy regulatory, and corporate compliance matters.
• Manage required disclosures to FERC, state agencies, etc.

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in good standing (preferably in California).
• 6+ years of legal practice, including law firm and in-house experience.
• Experience in the energy industry (clean energy or utility industry preferred).
• Solution-oriented, business-minded, and pragmatic.
• Exceptional judgment and ability to balance risk with corporate objectives.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Intellectual curiosity and willingness to take on new challenges.
