Content Editor - Local Democracy Reporting Service - Remote

Overview

We are looking for a talented Content Editor to manage and support our Local Democracy Reporters (LDRs) across the West Midlands, including BirminghamLive, Stoke-On-TrentLive, CoventryLive and beyond.

This pivotal role exists to support our LDRs in creating and publishing content which delivers on the requirements of our LDRS contracts, assuring our reporters meet the requirements as set out by the BBC.

In Short

• Manage and support Local Democracy Reporters across various platforms.
• Ensure content meets contractual obligations and BBC requirements.
• Mentor and develop reporters through regular check-ins and performance appraisals.

Requirements

• NCTJ qualified journalist or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of media law and IPSO editors’ code.
• Experience in content editing or public affairs journalism.
• Excellent news judgement and team motivation skills.
• Proficient in digital publishing and SEO practices.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Attention to detail in content creation.
• Ability to craft compelling headlines and social media posts.
• Experience in managing and mentoring a team.
• Willingness to work flexible hours for significant events.
