Overview

As a Software Engineer II on Planet’s Professional Services team, you will transform customer requirements into scalable software solutions that maximize the value of Planet’s data products.

• Collaborate with Solution Architects to implement tailored software solutions.
• Develop custom software toolkits, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Create lightweight GUIs or CLIs to support customer use cases.
• Build and maintain scalable software architectures.
• Drive continuous improvement of internal tools and processes.
• Support the adoption of Planet’s products through technical contributions.
• Assist in scoping new projects and providing technical feedback.
• Package and support deployment of software releases.
• Analyze and resolve technical problems.
• Influence product direction through customer insights.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably in geospatial environments.
• Proficient in Python, with experience in data pipelines and APIs.
• Familiarity with cloud architectures and CI/CD processes.
• Experience with geospatial libraries (e.g., GDAL, QGIS).
• Experience with Linux and shell scripting.
• Ability to translate technical requirements into scalable solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Experience with JIRA or similar tools.
• Degree in GIS, Computer Science, or related field.
