State Climate Advocacy Manager - Remote

Overview

Pacific Environment is seeking a State Climate Advocacy Manager to lead advocacy efforts for zero-emission shipping and ports, focusing on policy support and public mobilization in Washington and Oregon.

In Short

• Lead policy advocacy in Washington and Oregon for clean shipping regulations.
• Engage with state legislatures, regulatory hearings, and stakeholders.
• Build strategic partnerships with community and environmental groups.
• Represent Pacific Environment in press and policy forums.
• Track legislation and support policy development.
• Conduct research and analysis on maritime fuels.
• Develop grassroots organizing and outreach campaigns.
• Manage project logistics for campaign activities.
• Collaborate with the Climate Policy Director on various tasks.
• Travel for in-person meetings and events as required.

Requirements

• 5-6 years of experience in policy advocacy or environmental organizations.
• Familiarity with Washington and Oregon legislative processes.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in coalition building and organizational partnerships.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working with impacted communities and labor is a plus.
• Knowledge of maritime decarbonization is advantageous.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
• Positive attitude and proactive problem-solving skills.
