Product Policy - Privacy Expert - Remote

Overview

The Product Policy team is responsible for the development, implementation, enforcement, and communication of the policies that govern use of OpenAI’s services, including ChatGPT, GPTs, the GPT store, Sora, and the OpenAI API. As a member of this team, you will be instrumental in developing policy approaches to best enable both innovative and responsible use of AI so that our groundbreaking technologies are truly used to benefit all people.

In Short

• Provide policy input on high-priority privacy initiatives, including OpenAI’s work on AI data rights and data minimization.
• Collaborate with legal, research, comms, and product counterparts to build durable frameworks addressing novel privacy risks.
• Drive special projects across privacy domains such as consent, transparency, and user controls.
• Support the development of incident response protocols and scalable approaches to privacy risk management.
• Have 7+ years of experience in privacy, data protection, or technology policy issues.
• Understand stakeholder perspectives on privacy issues.
• Fluent in translating complex privacy concepts into implementable guidance.
• Possess excellent communication skills for engaging with various teams.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and enjoy going from 0 to 1.

Requirements

• 7+ years working on privacy, data protection, or technology policy issues.
• Understanding of government and enterprise perspectives on privacy.
• Ability to translate complex privacy concepts into guidance.
• Excellent communication skills with diverse teams.
• Comfort with ambiguity and fast-paced environments.
