Join the Ookla Data Engineering team to process and analyze the world’s best collection of data on mobile and fixed internet performance, focusing on developing tools and libraries for data scientists and analysts.

In Short

  • Develop high volume data processing jobs across various platforms including Redshift, Athena, Iceberg, Spark, and Airflow.
  • Collaborate closely with Data Scientists to transform theories into viable products.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks in system performance.
  • Support and collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and product managers.
  • Work with big data using the latest technologies.
  • Passionate about accuracy and performance.
  • Flexible work environment with a focus on innovation.
  • Strong communication and time management skills required.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services is a plus.
  • Background check required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of programming concepts with experience in at least one OOP language (Python, Scala, Java).
  • 3+ years of direct experience working with Python.
  • Experience with distributed data processing in Spark.
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL, databases (MySQL / Redshift / Athena / Trino), and data modeling.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analysis skills.
  • Excited to learn and work with new technologies.
  • Strong communication skills in person and virtually.
  • Self-driven work ethic and strong time management skills.
  • Experience with event-driven architecture and streaming data pipelines is a plus.
