Senior Technical Editor & Specification Writer - Remote

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and successful Senior Technical Editor & Specification Writer who will work alongside our engineering and project teams to produce exceptional technical documentation. In this role, you’ll draft, review, and edit key project specifications, reports, and official communications—including documents that are sent to legislators. Your work ensures all documentation is clear, precise, and meets high industry standards.

In Short

• Collaborate with engineering and project teams to review, refine, and edit technical documentation and project specifications for roadway, civil, bridge, and structural projects.
• Develop detailed documents and reports that clearly articulate technical and project information.
• Review and edit official documents destined for legislators, ensuring each communication is accurate, accessible, and impactful.
• Coordinate revisions and feedback across multiple teams to maintain consistent, high-quality documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Keep all project documentation updated in accordance with evolving standards and project milestones.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical Communication, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven experience in technical editing and specification writing for engineering in transit/transportation (DOT) projects.
• Familiarity with industry standards for technical documentation and civil engineering specifications.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
