Overview

The Intake Coordinator is responsible for interacting with referral sources, gathering patient information, and ensuring proper insurance verification to facilitate patient treatment.

In Short

  • Talk to referral sources and collect patient information.
  • Complete initial authorization and verify insurance.
  • Provide excellent telephone and in-person customer service.
  • Input intake information into the computer system.
  • Coordinate with other departments for patient treatment.
  • Maintain effective working relationships.
  • Handle multiple priorities in time-sensitive situations.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy policies.
  • Obtain insurance eligibility and benefits information.
  • Translate physician diagnoses into appropriate codes.

Requirements

  • One year of customer service experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under stress and manage multiple priorities.
  • Computer and word processing skills.
  • Experience with Medicare/Medicaid is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking is a plus.
