Overview

The Benefits Access Administrative Assistant will support Hunger Free New York City in connecting eligible residents to various benefits programs, providing assistance and outreach to help reduce financial strain on households.

In Short

  • Provide front desk support at HFNYC’s South Bronx Neighborhood Field office.
  • Conduct eligibility pre-screening and application assistance for SNAP and Fair Fares.
  • Participate in outreach events to promote HFNYC’s services.
  • Collaborate with community coordinators and program managers.
  • Perform administrative duties such as data entry.
  • Provide direct services both remotely and in person.
  • Build connections with local community organizations.
  • Work with outreach materials and local resource catalogues.
  • Commit to fighting poverty and hunger.
  • Flexibility with schedule required, including nights and weekends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • Knowledge in anti-hunger/nutrition and benefits screening.
  • At least 2 years of experience in direct services.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and team-building skills.
  • Commitment to fighting poverty and hunger.
  • Flexibility with schedule required.
  • Working knowledge of databases like Airtable and Salesforce is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
