Development Writer/Editor - Remote

Overview

The Development and Outreach Department of Human Rights Watch (HRW) is seeking applicants for the position of Development Writer. This person will craft concise, fresh, persuasive and compelling materials for fundraising purposes that reflect the work, impact, and values of HRW with an emphasis on human-centered writing and storytelling.

In Short

• Craft short-form writing for a global donor audience.
• Synthesize and shorten existing writing on complex topics.
• Stay up-to-date with HRW’s programmatic work.
• Collaborate with development teams on content creation.
• Liaise with colleagues in Program and Media Departments.
• Manage workflow for multiple projects on deadline.
• Perform other responsibilities as required.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of five years writing compelling content on deadline.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills in English.
• Ability to translate complex information into succinct content.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Excellent time and project management skills.
• Familiarity with international human rights or related field.

• Salary range for US-based position: USD 80,000 – 88,000 plus benefits.
