Overview

The Orthopedics Technician assists physicians and extenders in providing medical and clerical support in pediatric orthopedic practice locations.

In Short

  • Assists in various orthopedic procedures including wound care and application of orthopedic casts.
  • Coordinates patient care under the supervision of healthcare providers.
  • Documents patient health information and performs pre-visit chart management.
  • Educates patients on proper care and prepares exam rooms for visits.
  • Maintains inventory of medical supplies and ensures treatment areas are stocked.
  • May function as a scribe to the physician to maintain clinic workflow.
  • Requires travel to various satellite locations to support assigned physicians.
  • Must maintain certifications and complete necessary training within specified timeframes.
  • Compliance with HIPAA and company policies is mandatory.
  • Position may include access to confidential information requiring protection.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Graduation from an AHN approved Medical Assistant School or accredited athletic training program.
  • Medical Assistant Certification or Athletic Trainer Licensure within 120 days of hire.
  • CPR Certification from the American Heart Association.
  • 3-5 years of experience as an Orthopedic Technician, Medical Assistant, or Certified Athletic Trainer preferred.
  • Background clearance certificates required.
  • Ability to document and manage patient records accurately.
  • Strong communication skills for patient education.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Compliance with ethical and legal standards is required.
