Overview

GEICO is looking to hire Counsel to defend lawsuits filed in Texas courts and other first party insurance defense. The position is with GEICO Staff Counsel located in McAllen, TX.

In Short

• Defend lawsuits in Texas courts.
• Prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
• Render opinions on liability, damages, and value.
• Handle pleadings, motions, and discovery.
• Defend matters assigned by trial or dispositive hearing.
• 7-9+ years of litigation experience required.
• Must hold a Juris Doctor degree and be admitted to the Texas Bar.
• Ability to travel for trials, hearings, and meetings.
• Strong written communication skills needed.
• Must be organized and able to manage multiple tasks.

Requirements

• 7-9+ years in related field litigation experience in insurance defense and/or personal injury required.
• Juris Doctor degree required.
• Admission to the Texas Bar required.
• Licensed in good standing to practice law in Texas.
• Must meet and maintain licensing requirements.
• Ability to document files clearly and concisely.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Ability to follow complex instructions.
• Civil litigation experience preferred.
• Professional communication skills required.
