GoFundMe is searching for a passionate and driven Staff Software Engineer with a strong background in building scalable, high-performance fintech or wealth management systems. In this high-impact role, you will design and develop innovative infrastructure from the ground up to support large-scale, mission-driven fintech products that empower millions of people globally.

In Short

• Collaborate with engineers, product management, designers, and external partners to improve GoFundMe fintech products.
• Take ownership of the entire product development life cycle, including design, development, and maintenance.
• Provide mentorship to junior developers and advocate for codebase improvements.
• Own the technical roadmap for new products, prioritizing features based on technology and user needs.
• Conduct technical exploration to stay ahead of industry trends and design scalable systems.
• Define and track KPIs, using data-driven insights to enhance user experience.
• Lead engineering efforts for product launches and post-launch strategies.
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure system reliability and operational excellence.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in scalable backend systems, APIs, or distributed systems.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and assist product teams with scoping and discovery.
• Experience architecting services using design patterns for future scalability.
• Skilled at leading projects from conception to completion.
• Strong experience in diagnosing and preventing performance problems.
• Experience in financial transaction systems and payment infrastructure is a plus.
