Medical Underwriting Assistant - Remote

Overview

The Medical Underwriting Assistant supports the Medical Underwriting Department by managing client reporting, processing medical documentation, and assisting with underwriting reviews for Stop Loss Insurance.

In Short

• Manage intake and entry of client reports into the Excess Loss System (ELS).
• Monitor delinquent reporting and follow up with clients.
• Pre-populate underwriting review forms with relevant medical and eligibility data.
• Identify high-dollar catastrophic claims for underwriting review.
• Maintain a library of vendor-provided reports and create alert grids for auditors.
• Ensure compliance with documentation standards and data privacy protocols.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in reimbursement processing, data entry, or similar roles within the insurance or healthcare industry.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Typing skills of 45-55 words per minute.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external teams.
• Training will be provided in HIPAA, cybersecurity, and data privacy standards.
• Strong commitment to protecting sensitive client information.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting and manage multiple priorities.
