Senior Software Engineer, Core - Remote

Overview

Fleetio is looking for a self-driven and impact-oriented Senior Software Engineer to join our Core Squad. Core is responsible for building the mission-critical systems and frameworks that power solutions across our product verticals. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on collaborating in an async environment, building and scaling backend systems, and leading projects from design through launch. You’ll work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver features quickly, shape scalable and maintainable architecture, and ensure the reliability of systems our customers depend on every day.

In Short

• Design and evolve mission-critical backend systems and frameworks.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers.
• Build scalable, observable, and well-documented systems.
• Mentor and support engineers through code reviews.
• Lead the design and architecture of new frameworks.
• Produce well-tested, maintainable, and performant code.
• Research and implement prototypes as necessary.
• Engage in collaborative design and architecture of features.
• Express opinions to help drive development processes.
• Thoroughly review peers' code to ensure quality.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails.
• Experience with React and TypeScript.
• Proven ability to ship and iterate quickly.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming.
• Experience designing scalable systems.
• Clear communication skills in an async environment.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks.
