Overview

The Lead Effects Technical Director is responsible for leading a team of Effects Artists, ensuring high-quality visual effects are delivered while supporting the creative vision of the show.

• Lead a team of Effects Artists in creating visual effects.
• Design and create complex FX animations and simulations.
• Collaborate with FX, VFX, and CG Supervisors.
• Implement new techniques and debug complex problems.
• Provide creative and technical feedback to the team.
• Coach and mentor FX artists for performance improvement.
• Work with Production on bidding, scheduling, and shotwork.
• Ensure effects and simulations are delivered on schedule and budget.
• Participate in meetings to enhance communication across teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Graphics.
• Expertise in Houdini software.
• Knowledge of Python or Vex.
• 10+ years of production experience in visual effects.
• Leadership experience in film visual effects.
• Proficiency with Linux and Unix.
• Experience in producing effects like smoke, fire, and explosions.
• Strong communication skills for mentoring and presentations.
• Ability to develop tools for FX TDs.
• Experience mentoring and developing artists.
