DoorDash is seeking an Engineering Manager with a strong platform mindset to lead the Gateway Platforms team. Our mission is to create a next-generation, highly scalable, and reliable API enablement and business platform that fuels the growth and velocity of DoorDash’s engineering organization. Our gateway platform serves as a vital hub between application and backend services, empowering product developers to seamlessly implement business logic at the edge with minimal effort and code, freeing them from the need to own or deploy their services. You will be an influential part of our journey building a next-generation cutting-edge platform to accelerate DoorDash’s growth.

In Short

Lead impactful initiatives that determine the direction and success of our Gateway Platforms
Collaborate with various cross-functional partners, including those from infrastructure, engineering, product, and other teams, to prioritize and implement features that allow engineers to concentrate solely on business logic while managing reliable platforms for them
Provide architectural guidance and professional development for a team of 10+
Encourage innovation, teamwork, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, and outside-of-the-box thinking
Scale the team by recruiting, retaining and developing highly talented engineers across different disciplines

Requirements

B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or related field
4+ years of experience in people management, leading backend and platform teams
8+ years of industry experience
You bring a strong product sense and can be a thought partner with cross-functional peers
Experience selecting and adopting web technologies to improve testing and performance
A customer-centric mindset and will apply that to building out platform services
