Overview

The Lead Operating Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient operations and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for the assigned facility, often acting as the sole engineer on-site.

In Short

  • Manage daily operations and maintenance of building systems.
  • Supervise maintenance staff and oversee maintenance activities.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks and inspections.
  • Develop and maintain building-specific maintenance procedures.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors for maintenance efforts.
  • Respond to emergency situations and customer concerns.
  • Compile and submit monthly reports on building operations.
  • Maintain compliance with safety and operational regulations.
  • Ensure proper inventory control of maintenance supplies.
  • Work in varying weather conditions while traveling between properties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in operating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Licenses/permits as required (e.g., Electrician License).
  • Universal certification for CFC and HFC refrigerants.
  • Basic computing skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience with HVAC, boilers, and other building systems.
  • Knowledge of energy management systems.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours during emergencies.
