Staff Accountant - Remote

Overview

The Staff Accountant contributes to the success of Sur La Table by owning the complete and timely processing of journal entries, analysis of general ledger account balances and other monthly closing activities to ensure accurate financial results.

In Short

• Prepare journal entries, accruals and related account reconciliations to support the month-end close process.
• Generate reports and perform variance analysis on assigned operating department expenses.
• Maintain all lease accounting schedules and key processes regarding ASC 842 reporting.
• Track and record all fixed asset additions, transfers and disposals.
• Prepare required schedules, documentation and respond to inquiries for all audits.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and drive projects to completion.
• Provide training on key backup tasks.
• Serve as back up support for other GL team processes as assigned.
• Other projects and ad hoc analysis as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent field.
• 2-4 years’ experience in a corporate accounting position or audit firm required.
• Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
