Chief Operating Officer - Remote

Overview

Color Of Change is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead and optimize internal operations across our nonprofit and political entities, ensuring our systems, people, and resources power impactful initiatives.

In Short

• Oversee internal operations including HR, IT, administration, and facilities.
• Manage and coach leaders across finance, HR, project management, and operations.
• Lead weekly operations huddles and team retreats.
• Strengthen organizational culture grounded in equity and collaboration.
• Own the budget process, grant reporting, audits, and filings.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and internal controls.
• Help drive annual planning and organization-wide goal setting.
• Oversee implementation of secure, user-friendly digital tools.
• Lead union strategy and negotiations.
• Advise and support the President/ED on operational strategy.

Requirements

• Experience in operations management within nonprofit or political organizations.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Expertise in financial oversight and compliance.
• Ability to drive strategic planning and performance measurement.
• Familiarity with digital tools and remote work environments.
• Understanding of labor relations and legal compliance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to racial justice and equity.
• Ability to travel up to 25% (mostly U.S.).
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
