Mortgage Underwriter (FHA/VA) - Remote

Overview

CMG is hiring a Government Underwriter who have both their FHA/VA Designations (DE and SAR) to execute underwriting based on company policy and standards, ensuring sound decisions to protect the financial and operational interests of the company.

In Short

• Underwrite FHA and VA loans with active government designation (DE/SAR/LAPP).
• Underwrite various loans including Conventional, Bond, USDA, Jumbo, Non-QM, Renovation, and Construction.
• Ability to underwrite 45+ initial underwrites per month.
• Communicate with Loan Officers and Processors regarding loan status.
• Follow file and check order as conditions are signed off.
• Maintain current knowledge on products.
• Provide leadership in underwriting resources and credit policy execution.
• Maintain conversation log in Byte for tracking.
• Assist with training needs of other mortgage positions.
• Perform ad hoc reporting and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of five (5) years of government underwriting experience.
• Must possess valid CHUMS and LAPP/SAR to underwrite FHA and VA loans.
• Recent experience underwriting Conventional loans.
• Experience with USDA, Bond, 203K loans preferred.
• Knowledge of DU and LP input required.
• Ability to interpret DU and LP and document findings.
• Intermediate experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and email systems.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Proven leadership skills required.
