Supervising Inspector, Plumbing - Remote

Overview

The NYC Department of Buildings is responsible for ensuring the safe and lawful use of buildings and properties by enforcing the NYC Construction Codes, Energy Code and Zoning Resolution. This position performs supervisory work in the inspection of plumbing installations, repairs, or alterations for conformity with relevant codes and regulations.

In Short

• Supervises inspectorial staff and coordinates workflow.
• Conducts field inspections and investigates complaints.
• Issues violations and verifies licenses of onsite workers.
• Explains and enforces relevant laws and rules.
• Maintains records and prepares reports.
• Trains subordinates in their duties.
• Represents the Department at meetings and conferences.
• May operate a motor vehicle for job duties.
• Eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week.
• May perform special assignments as needed.

Requirements

• Two years of experience in plumbing or inspection.
• Formal training in plumbing or related fields is a plus.
• Education in civil engineering or related fields is acceptable.
• Completion of an apprentice program in plumbing is preferred.
• Licensure as a professional engineer or registered architect is acceptable.
• Additional experience required for higher assignment levels.
