Supervising Inspector, Construction - Remote

Overview

This position performs supervisory work in the inspection of buildings, other structures, and/or devices in the assigned discipline/s for conformity with NYC Construction Codes, Department rules, other pertinent laws and rules, and approved plans and specifications.

In Short

• Assists and supports the Deputy Director and Assistant Chief with daily operations.
• Monitors, adjusts and approves inspectors' routes and submitted inspection records.
• Supervises inspectorial staff; prioritizes, assigns and coordinates workflow.
• Conducts field inspections and responds to incidents and complaints.
• Issues violations, summonses, and stop work orders.
• Explains and enforces relevant laws and rules.
• Coordinates joint inspections with other inspectors.
• Maintains records and makes reports.
• Trains subordinates in their duties.
• May operate a motor vehicle in the performance of assigned duties.

Requirements

• Two years of full-time satisfactory experience in construction trades or related work.
• A license as a professional engineer or registered architect is acceptable.
• Sixty credits towards a degree in a related field from an accredited college.
• Completion of an apprentice program in a construction trade or building inspection.
• Education and/or experience equivalent to the above qualifications.
• Additional experience or education may be required for higher assignment levels.
