Supervising Inspector, Construction - Remote

Overview

The NYC Department of Buildings is responsible for ensuring the safe and lawful use of buildings and properties by enforcing the NYC Construction Codes, Energy Code and Zoning Resolution. This position performs supervisory work in the inspection of buildings, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and laws.

In Short

• Supervise inspectorial staff and coordinate workflow.
• Conduct inspections and respond to incidents.
• Issue violations and enforce laws.
• Maintain records and prepare reports.
• Train subordinates in their duties.
• Represent the Department at meetings.
• May operate a motor vehicle as part of duties.
• May perform special assignments as needed.
• Eligible for remote work up to 2 days a week.
• All positions are Citywide with potential work location changes.

Requirements

• Two years of experience in construction trades or related work.
• License as a professional engineer or registered architect is a plus.
• Sixty credits towards a degree in a related field.
• Completion of an apprentice program in a construction trade.
• Experience in a supervisory capacity may be required for higher levels.
• Valid motor vehicle driver license in New York State.
• Must be a US Citizen and of good moral character for Special Patrolman status.
