The NYC Department of Buildings is responsible for ensuring the safe and lawful use of buildings and properties by enforcing the NYC Construction Codes, Energy Code and Zoning Resolution. We facilitate compliant development with integrity, efficiency and professionalism. In Short

  • Prosecuting Department of Buildings licensee cases at OATH Trials and Hearings.
  • Conducting interviews and preparing reports.
  • Developing and analyzing intelligence information.
  • Legal writing for petitions, discovery responses, and motions.
  • Communicating important developments to senior staff.
  • Pre-hearing preparation and research for upcoming cases.
  • Performing in-house assignments related to adjudications.
  • Participating in special projects and making recommendations.
  • Working as part of the DOB legal team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
  • One year of satisfactory legal experience or six months as an Agency Attorney Intern.
  • Must remain a member of the New York State Bar in good standing.
  • Experience in areas of law related to the assignment is preferred.
