Assistant Corporation Counsel, Tort Division - Remote

Overview

The NYC Law Department is seeking admitted attorneys for the Tort Division to manage sensitive personal injury cases from start to finish.

In Short

• Handle sensitive personal injury matters from inception to resolution.
• Conduct statutory hearings and depositions.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
• Request document discovery and conduct preliminary conferences.
• Participate in trial rotation and second-chair opportunities.
• Complete factual and legal research for trials.
• Develop trial strategies and prepare witnesses.
• Negotiate settlements.
• Work remotely under a pilot program with set days approved by the division.
• Submit application materials including cover letter and resume.

Requirements

• Must be admitted and in good standing in New York State.
• At least three years of legal experience required.
• Strong legal analytical skills necessary.
• Solid knowledge of municipal tort law and CPLR.
• Experience in personal injury case evaluation.
• Exceptional organizational and supervisory abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent judgment.
• Trial experience is a plus but not required.
