Payroll Specialist - Remote

Overview

The Payroll Specialist will play a key role in supporting payroll processing for Charlie Health’s growing team of employees and contractors across the United States. This role is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll runs, supporting audits, and assisting with payroll system maintenance and improvements.

In Short

• Process biweekly payroll runs and off-cycle payments for employees and independent contractors
• Review and validate timesheets, deductions, and tax information to ensure accurate pay
• Assist with payroll system updates, testing, and troubleshooting
• Maintain payroll records in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve issues
• Assist with wage garnishments, benefit and 401(k) deductions
• Support regular audits of payroll data and processes
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accuracy and alignment
• Proactively contribute to process improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with payroll regulations

Requirements

• 3–5 years of payroll experience in a multi-state environment
• Familiarity with payroll compliance regulations
• Hands-on experience using UKG Pro and similar systems preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

• Total target base compensation between $62,000 and $81,000 per year
• Performance-based bonus opportunities
• Potential total cash compensation including bonuses between $68,000 and $89,000 per year
