Systems Architect - Remote

Overview

The Systems Architect will play a crucial role in advancing the CDC Foundation's mission by designing and overseeing the implementation of complex technical solutions that support the mission-critical systems in a public health organization. This role is aligned to the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI). WAI is a federally funded CDC Foundation program with the goal of helping the nation’s public health agencies by providing them with the technology and data experts they need to accelerate their information system improvements.

In Short

• Design and oversee implementation of technical solutions for public health systems.
• Focus on technical cloud storage and computing environments.
• Evaluate and implement cloud computing services.
• Collaborate to identify needs and prioritize gaps.
• Develop and support implementation of technical approaches.
• Work within the Rhode Island Department of Health’s Division of State Laboratories.
• Eligible for fully remote work arrangement.
• Attend select in-person meetings as needed.
• Position is grant funded and limited-term.
• Work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm EST.

Requirements

• Expertise in technology architecture.
• Experience with cloud computing and data analysis.
• Knowledge of public health systems.
• Ability to design application architecture strategies.
• Experience with next generation sequencing technologies.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and address technical gaps.
• Experience in a public health organization is preferred.
• Must be based in the United States.
• Ability to work remotely with occasional in-person meetings.
