Overview

The CDC Foundation is working with CDC and state and local authorities to provide surge staff to support surveillance, prevention and response activities within the Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) program. Under this cooperative agreement, CDC Foundation will hire and place epidemiologists in OD2A jurisdictions who demonstrate a need for epidemiology support to implement OD2A objectives.

In Short

  • Conduct surveillance and epidemiologic activities related to drug overdoses.
  • Assist partners with the collection and sharing of drug overdose data.
  • Analyze data to determine patterns and causes of drug overdoses.
  • Implement innovative surveillance projects.
  • Disseminate results to local communities for prevention efforts.
  • Work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Develop summary fact sheets and data visualizations.
  • Provide training and technical assistance regarding epidemiology.
  • Engage in strategic partnerships and teamwork.
  • Participate in discussions on using OD2A data for action.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in public health or a health-related field.
  • At least two years of experience in data analysis.
  • Proven ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Proficient in statistical analysis software, preferably SAS.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Experience working in a virtual environment.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and within teams.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Zoom.
  • Strong understanding of research and epidemiologic study design.
