Litigation Paralegal - Remote

Overview

The Litigation Paralegal will be responsible for assisting the Legal Department with various contested or escalated matters in order to facilitate implementation of an appropriate and timely course of action. Perform all duties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures, all US state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the company operates.

In Short

• Assist in reviewing pleadings prepared by outside counsel.
• Assist in reviewing and preparing discovery responses and objections.
• Review and prepare responses to various written correspondence.
• Open and maintain matters in case management system.
• Assist outside counsel with securing key personnel for mediations.
• Maintain calendar for events requiring appearance by legal department staff.
• Research and analyze law sources.
• Conduct factual research from various resources.
• Assist with case settlement by gathering and organizing data.
• Take lead in pre-claim title investigation/review.

Requirements

• Good understanding of mortgage servicing and litigation.
• Intermediate skills in MS Suite, Word, Excel required.
• Strong writing and proofreading skills.
• Ability to understand complex problems and collaborate.
• Ability to make impactful decisions.
• Ability to understand opposing viewpoints and negotiate.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work schedule.
• Ability to accurately track and record time.
• Associate’s degree plus paralegal certification or Bachelor’s degree.
• Two or more years’ experience working as a paralegal.
