Automation QA Engineer (Java) - Remote

The Pricing team runs a group of low-latency microservices that pull live quotes from top exchanges, merge them, and push out millions of price updates. We keep fast, accurate prices for 10,000+ markets — currencies, shares, indices, commodities, and crypto — so every chart and trade always shows the latest move. These fair, up-to-date prices drive our revenue, protect risk, and are vital to Capital.com’s success. We’re forming a backend-dedicated Automation QA function to own the health of our micro-services and prevent regressions before they ever reach production.

In Short

• Design and evolve a Java-based automation framework for microservices.
• Test various pathways including gRPC calls, Kafka topics, and WebSocket feeds.
• Embed test packs as quality gates in GitLab CI.
• Spin up containerized environments for testing.
• Ensure the health of microservices and prevent regressions.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and Docker.
• Collaborate in a team environment with Git Flow.
• Perform SQL data validation against Postgres.
• Utilize knowledge of software testing principles.
• Contribute to a performance-oriented culture.

Requirements

• Solid knowledge of Java 21+, OO, and concurrency.
• Experience with JUnit 5, TestNG, and REST-assured.
• Confident in testing network-heavy protocols.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like GitLab CI.
• Familiarity with Docker Compose or Kubernetes.
• Ability to craft SQL assertions and validate data.
• Knowledge of BDD/TDD and performance profiling.
• Experience with load testing tools is a plus.
• Exposure to SRE practices is advantageous.
• Finance/trading domain knowledge is a nice-to-have.
