Overview

The Legal Counsel, Product & Privacy role at Canva involves providing support and advice to internal teams regarding privacy compliance and data governance.

In Short

• Support Canva’s global privacy compliance strategy.
• Act as the first point of contact for the Canva Security team on security initiatives.
• Monitor regulatory landscape for privacy and cybersecurity laws.
• Advise on Privacy Impact Assessments and related queries.
• Support Canva-wide privacy and legal training initiatives.
• Ensure terms of use and internal policies remain current.
• Help redefine the role of in-house counsel.
• Work with product lawyers, managers, and engineers on privacy laws.
• Manage privacy-related incidents and obligations to regulators.
• Utilize AI to drive efficiency in legal processes.

Requirements

• Experience in handling multi-jurisdictional data privacy incidents.
• Experience in a rapidly growing business, preferably in SaaS.
• Prior experience working with AI in legal contexts.
• CIPP/E certification or willingness to obtain within six months.
