Backend Developer (Working Student or Internship) - Remote or On-site

Overview

We are a young team from the RWTH Aachen environment, pragmatically making the energy transition with Calvergy, building an AI-supported platform that maps corporate energy systems as digital twins, compares options like waste heat utilization, CHP, heat pumps, KWK, PV or batteries, and derives clear and sustainable supply concepts.

In Short

• Build and extend APIs: REST endpoints with Django + Django REST Framework, clean OpenAPI/Swagger specs.
• Plan PostgreSQL schemas, write migrations, keep performance in mind.
• Contribute to the modeling of energy systems (Digital Twin, scenarios, optimizations).
• Work closely with frontend to enable seamless user experiences.
• Actively shape our product roadmap with your ideas.
• Technologies you will touch (not mandatory, lots of learning space): Python, Django/DRF, PostgreSQL, Git/GitHub, pytest, pydantic, FastAPI (experimental), Celery/Redis, Docker, OpenAPI/Swagger, basics of optimization/analytics (Pandas, possibly PuLP/OR-Tools).

Requirements

• Study in Computer Science, Energy Technology, Data Science, Engineering or comparable.
• First experience with backend development (e.g., REST APIs, databases).
• Enjoy modeling, data structures, and logical thinking.
• Independent working style and willingness to take on responsibility.
• Motivation to help build a startup and shape the energy transition.
