The Medical Assistant at UMass Memorial Health plays a crucial role in providing clinical care and performing clerical duties to support the Arthritis and Joint Center.

In Short

• Full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.
• Provides clinical care under the direction of licensed clinicians.
• Records vital signs and collects patient health information.
• Performs EKGs and phlebotomy as per clinic standards.
• Assists in routine physical exams and clinical procedures.
• Maintains cleanliness and sterilization of medical instruments.
• Manages patient admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures.
• Handles clerical duties like scheduling appointments and managing medical records.
• Collaborates with insurers for patient coverage verification.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current BLS or Heart Saver certification needed.
• Medical Assistant credential must be obtained within one year.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
