Overview

As an Accountant at Poppy & Peonies, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting strategic planning, ensuring the business remains fiscally healthy and growth-ready.

In Short

• Prepare and analyze financial reports
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes
• Collaborate with the VP of Finance for reporting packages
• Conduct cost and variance analyses
• Support tax return preparations
• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting
• Handle accounts payable and payroll processes
• Ensure compliance with sales tax regulations
• Drive process improvements in financial workflows
• Collaborate across departments to support business goals

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3+ years of accounting experience
• Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks)
• Advanced Excel skills
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
• Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks
• Process-driven mindset focused on continuous improvement
• Effective communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• CPA designation or in progress is a plus
