Overview

As a Senior Database Engineer at BetterHelp, you’ll join a diverse team dedicated to expanding access to therapy while ensuring the health, performance, and scalability of our databases.

In Short

• Own the architecture, availability, and performance of Aurora MySQL clusters.
• Design strategies for database replication and obfuscation.
• Troubleshoot complex performance issues.
• Collaborate with engineers to improve query efficiency.
• Design schema and data modeling strategies.
• Monitor backup and disaster recovery processes.
• Participate in on-call rotation for database incidents.
• Work with AWS and various monitoring tools.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience managing production-grade relational databases.
• Deep knowledge of MySQL/Aurora internals.
• Strong experience with AWS database solutions.
• Familiarity with Laravel or PHP-based ORM.
• Experience managing large-scale databases.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficient in Bash scripting and automation.
• Bonus: Experience with Redis at scale.
