Staff Attorney (I), Eviction Defense Project - Remote

Overview

Bet Tzedek Legal Services is seeking a dedicated attorney to join our Eviction Defense Project, providing litigation-based direct services to residential tenants in Los Angeles County facing eviction.

In Short

• Litigate eviction cases under supervision.
• Carry a caseload of 15 to 25 active cases.
• Perform case management duties.
• Collaborate with pro bono volunteers.
• Assist with grant reporting and data interpretation.
• Conduct trainings and outreach events.
• Work in a hybrid/remote environment.
• Must be an active member of the California State Bar.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Requirements

• Active member of California State Bar in good standing.
• Minimum one year experience litigating in Superior Court preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel within Los Angeles County.
• Exceptionally organized and self-motivated.
• Experience with case management systems preferred.
• Willingness to conduct jury trials with supervision.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated commitment to providing free legal services.
