Senior Manager, Security Engineering - Remote

Overview

Avalara is looking for a Senior Manager of Deployment Security to lead an engineering team focused on securing our cloud-native infrastructure and computer environments. You will be responsible for platform-wide initiatives that enforce secure-by-design principles across our CI/CD workflows, and runtime workloads. You will collaborate with product engineering, platform teams, and other security stakeholders to drive automation, implement scalable guardrails, and proactively reduce deployment and infrastructure risks across our public cloud environments.

In Short

• Lead and grow a high-performing team of security engineers.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and container scanning tooling.
• Own the deployment of Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) solutions.
• Drive implementation of Privileged Access Management (PAM).
• Provide guidance on threat modelling and security best practices.
• Manage execution of complex security projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Masters in Computer Science or related field.
• 12 years work experience, including 5 years in cloud security.
• 3 years in a technical leadership role.
• Expertise in cloud platform security (AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI).
• Experience with CI/CD and SDLC security tooling.
• Development background using Golang and Python.
