Overview

The Systems Engineer will enhance the UFS Community Modeling Coupler with FMS exchange grid functionality, focusing on simulation and modeling in a high-performance computing environment.

In Short

Enhance UFS Community Modeling Coupler with FMS exchange grid functionality.
Ingest GFDL grid specs for ESMF exchange grid.
Conduct conservation tests for exchanges using ESMF.
Support 2nd order conservative exchange scheme.
Perform exchange grid optimization and compare performance.
Test functional duplicates of put_to_xgrid and get_from_xgrid.
Deliver a prototype of enhanced CMEPS with FMS functionality.
Communicate technical information effectively.
Work in an Agile environment.
Collaborate with UFS MRW or SRW application teams.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of engineering experience.
Simulation and Modeling experience in an HPC environment.
Experience with coupled modeling systems and frameworks.
At least 1 year of Lifecycle Development experience.
Proficiency in Fortran, C, Python, or C++.
Knowledge of debugging with compiled, parallel codes.
Ability to communicate technical information verbally and in writing.
