Overview

Aquia Inc. is hiring a Senior Front-End Software Engineer to design and build high-quality, accessible user interfaces for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) disability benefits application on VA.gov.

In Short

• Build and maintain React-based user interfaces for the VA disability benefits application.
• Implement accessible, modular, and testable components based on Figma designs.
• Collaborate closely with designers, researchers, and content strategists.
• Translate complex workflows into usable and responsive front-end features.
• Help debug, monitor, and improve front-end performance and reliability.
• Participate in user testing reviews and incorporate feedback into development cycles.
• Integrate front-end components with backend APIs and VA services.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in front-end web development, with strong React and JavaScript skills.
• Solid understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1+, Section 508).
• Familiarity with front-end testing frameworks and performance optimization techniques.
• Proficiency with GitHub, Figma, Mural, and collaborative design workflows.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and modern client-server architecture.
• Comfortable working in a containerized environment with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Passionate about building usable, inclusive digital experiences.
