Senior Content Designer - Remote

Overview

Aquia is seeking a Senior Content Designer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in transforming how Veterans access and apply for disability benefits through VA.gov. You will craft clear, accessible, and compassionate content that helps Veterans confidently navigate complex processes.

In Short

• Own the creation and delivery of plain-language content for VA.gov disability benefits application.
• Write, revise, and test user-facing content including form instructions and error messages.
• Ensure all content aligns with VA.gov voice, tone, accessibility, and style standards.
• Collaborate closely with designers, researchers, and engineers.
• Use qualitative and quantitative research to inform content decisions.
• Partner with stakeholders and subject matter experts for accuracy.
• Contribute to content strategy discussions and documentation.
• Advocate for content best practices and represent the Veteran perspective.
• Support iterative development in agile ceremonies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in content design, UX writing, or content strategy.
• Expertise in plain language, inclusive writing, and content accessibility standards.
• Experience designing content for complex applications or government services.
• Strong understanding of human-centered design principles.
• Proficiency with design collaboration tools like Figma.
• Excellent editorial judgment and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate and communicate value of content design.
