Senior Content Designer - Remote

Overview

Aquia is seeking a Senior Content Designer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs in transforming how Veterans access and apply for disability benefits through VA.gov.

In Short

• Own the creation and delivery of plain-language content for VA.gov disability benefits application.
• Write, revise, and test user-facing content such as form instructions and error messages.
• Ensure all content aligns with VA’s voice, tone, accessibility, and style standards.
• Collaborate with designers, researchers, and engineers using tools like Figma.
• Use research to inform content decisions and address Veteran pain points.
• Partner with stakeholders to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Contribute to content strategy discussions and documentation.
• Advocate for content best practices in product conversations.
• Participate in agile ceremonies like sprint planning and retrospectives.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in content design, UX writing, or content strategy.
• Expertise in plain language and content accessibility standards.
• Experience designing content for complex applications.
• Understanding of human-centered design principles.
• Proficiency with design tools such as Figma and Mural.
• Excellent editorial judgment and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate effectively.
