Overview

AIR seeks an Education Policy Researcher with expertise in PK–12 education finance and funding policy to join its growing team of national experts. The Researcher will support and lead components of applied research focused on state and local education funding systems, including school district finance, accounting, and budgeting practices as they relate to efficient and effective programming for students.

In Short

  • Develop research designs to evaluate federal, state, and local PK–12 education funding policies.
  • Support policymakers in analyzing funding to improve low performing schools.
  • Manage or lead projects and tasks over time.
  • Analyze financial and administrative data using advanced research methods.
  • Prepare written materials that describe study findings for policymakers.
  • Present findings to clients and the public.
  • Participate in efforts to prepare research proposals for funding.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff.
  • Expertise in statistical methods and education finance analysis.
  • Communicate effectively with non-technical audiences.

Requirements

  • Ph.D./Ed.D. or master’s degree with 4-7 years of experience in education policy or related field.
  • Knowledge of analyzing primary and administrative data.
  • Experience collecting and analyzing educational data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
