Estimator for Construction Projects - Remote

Overview

The Estimator will work with the Sales Team and Account Executives to generate bid documents and cost estimates for BMS construction and retrofit projects. The Estimator collects and studies information, evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring they know what is required to successfully bid and win the project.

In Short

• Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
• Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work and enter into computer estimating system.
• Request quotes from suppliers for equipment and materials.
• Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes.
• Itemize and quantify all incidentals necessary in preparing the bid packages.
• Provide the Account Team with a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing.
• Meet with Project Management to explain the estimate and scope of work.
• Responsible for the timely completion of all client-required documents.
• Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures.
• Perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating.

Requirements

• Knowledge of assigned discipline, construction technology, estimating techniques, and cost control.
• Interpret computerized cost data and systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints and/or engineering design drawings.
• Identify and meet customers’ needs, expectations, and requirements.
• Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
• Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and change priorities as necessary.
• Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements.
• Oral and written communication skills as required for the position.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
• Interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others.
