Overview

The primary objective of this position is to use data assimilation to incorporate remotely sensed and in situ weather observations into next-generation atmospheric models to improve the prediction of the atmosphere, especially where it relates to aircraft operations.

Requirements

  • PhD in science, mathematics, or engineering.
  • Five years of experience in atmospheric science or related fields.
  • Experience in satellite data assimilation.
  • Advanced knowledge of NWP model verification.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including algebra and matrix manipulation.
  • Proficiency in Fortran and/or C++ programming.
  • Experience with Python 3.0 or later.
  • Understanding of high-performance computing environments.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Cloud computing experience is a plus.
