Overview

The Senior Climate Scientist position provides physical climate science thought leadership, science direction, and technical and analytical support to advance the Climate and Energy Program mission.

In Short

  • Design and implement research and analysis in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Identify strategic opportunities for new areas of research.
  • Manage research and analysis projects, including scoping, planning, execution, and evaluation.
  • Write, edit and review peer-reviewed papers and reports.
  • Collaborate with coalition and grassroots partners.
  • Represent UCS in public forums and with media.
  • Support the scoping, planning, design, and implementation of campaigns.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of current and emerging research trends.
  • Provide technical direction to staff and interns.
  • Contribute to creating an anti-racist and inclusive work environment.

Requirements

  • Expertise in climate science and research methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in policy advocacy and collaboration.
