Head of Legal & Compliance - Remote

Overview

In this role, you will lead the Legal & Compliance function for the DACH region, coordinating group-wide compliance issues and ensuring that the company remains legally capable, reduces risks, and harmonizes processes across all entities.

In Short

• Strategic development of the Legal & Compliance organization for DACH and alignment of the group-wide compliance strategy.
• Operational legal support: handling complaints, terminations, contract disputes, legal proceedings, and managing external law firms.
• Responsibility for data protection including incident management, collaboration with data protection officers, and ensuring GDPR-compliant processes.
• Regulatory compliance with the Data Act, AI Act, and other relevant EU/national regulations.
• Development and implementation of guidelines, internal controls, and compliance and ESG training.
• Advising management on legal issues, product development, sales, and international activities.
• Stakeholder management with Finance, HR, IT/Security, Product Management, and subsidiaries.
• Leading a small central team and managing external service providers and law firms.

Requirements

• Legal qualification: Fully qualified lawyer (m/f/d) (2nd state examination) or equivalent international education.
• Experience: 7-10 years of relevant professional experience in the tech/software environment, in a business law firm, or a comparable role.
• Expertise: Data protection law (GDPR), contract law, IT law, EU regulations (Data Act, AI Act), ESG; ideally experience with ISO certifications.
• Languages: Fluent in German & English; additional languages are a plus.
• Leadership: Proven leadership experience and management of external partners.
• Mobility: Willingness to travel within Europe; otherwise, home office.
• Desirable: International experience, understanding of tech/SaaS, project management, change management, relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CISSP).
